A-trak
A-traks just dropped a new mixtape. DIRTY SOUTH DANCE 2. Dirty south dance was dropped way back in 2007 and now hes come back strong with another lot of fresh rap/dance mashups to great effect. It's an eclectic sound so prepare yourself.

miami horror is so cool

i've been at home in the country for a few weeks. it was great at the start because i saw people but when the people who have cars went back to uni i've been confined to my house, with nobody to talk to and fucking slow internet. the country has its pros but it certainly has its cons aswel.
so i'm going back to london tomorrow ready for my exams in two weeks and here's a new track from miami horror which reminds me of music you'd listen to on the way home from a vacation, or something. it's the opposite of what i'm doing (i'm going away from home) but either way, this song makes for good travelling music.

'Moon Theory - Miami Horror'
also Binary blogged this track a few days ago, i've not stopped listening to it. it's so awesome. i'll be glad when i get back to my speakers in my flat so i can listen to it with a certain amount of bass not typically found on macbookpros.
'Hold Me - Odahl'

works for me
deciding to take a break from my first day of revision (real analysis- i didn't know it was interesting ?:\)
firstly, i saw kick-ass last night in the crowded islington vue. the movie was hilarious, really original and didn't showboat the starring as much as i thought it would. to be honest, if i had known nicholas cage was in it i probably wouldn't have gone to see it, but as fate has it i had no idea he was "batdad" and i thought his performance was great. he really played his character properly and actually made me laugh. as for the other actors, yeah they were very good. the main guy- "kick-ass" -is the same age as me (the actor, not character) and i couldnt do half as good a job as he did playing an amateur vigilante. also dale from greek was really funny, and should have had more screentime in my opinion.
this movie is violent, funny, and has a fit girl the superhero is after. it's everything the spiderman series isn't.
well worth seeing.
GO SEE IT, jeez.
also heard this track by the twelves this morning and despite the rain last night and dull weather all day, i wore shorts to college because the track is summer electro at it's best.
'Works for Me - The Twelves'
peace

p.s. "hit-girl" in kick-ass is insanely funny. chloe moretz is a talented young actress

fed up of mashups
in general aren't mashups just irritating? i just imagine someone sitting at a computer for hours thinking about songs which have the same rhythm or whatever then just laying lyrics of one ontop of music from another without much thought at all, like the white pandas tipsy in the sun which puts j-kwon's tipsy lyrics on weezer's island in the sun smooth summer track- and to my surprise a shitload of people love this track on hypem. sometimes mashups are funny but today theyre irritating along with the fact i have a test in 2 hours. probably should be studying.
here's an indie/folk track i've been listening to recently. it's really nice so give it a listen
'Home - Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros'

well done jonas akerlund, what with david guetta and lady gaga videos to your name, you're a real success story
erm
i dont want to go too far into the lady gaga bs videoshortmoviethingshethoughtwouldbefuntomake. just two things
somebody should stop jonas akerlund
lady gaga is no better than those people on facebook whom make pages with content that might appear interesting in the title so you click on it, only to find out you have to become a fan to see the content, just because the creator thinks that getting fans on facebook is a feat to be proud of?(seriously, on most of these pages there is a running total on the wall of how many people join, despite that information being freely available in the sidebar, and all i wanted was to see 'the worst text to send your mom'). i digress. lady gaga is just a freak and my theory is all she wants is youtube hits
her success is a mindfuck to me

marina - not shakira! i think we get it
really cannot make my mind up about marina and the diamonds. mowgli's road was pretty cool, as was the russ chimes remix, then she releases hollywood which is BS and i hear her album is debatable. i'm glad she's injecting something different than what most young female artists are bringing to the table of the current music scene, but there's a limit before her music might become as weird as lady gaga itself. anyways passion pit throw some summer synth on this and yeah, it's good

oscars 2010

thought id write my opinion of some of the awards given out last night or saturday night, whenever the oscars happened because im not entirely sure
although the hurt locker is a VERY good movie i didnt think it should have been awarded best motion picture
in all honesty i thought it should have gone to district 9, my personal favourite movie of last year, due to the fact that as soon as i saw district 9 i wanted to watch it again instantly, and every time i have seen it i never get bored. ive seen the hurt locker a few times now and to be honest, i dont appreciate everything about it on successive screenings
i completely agreed with sandra bullock getting her oscar for leading female role in the blind side. i was apprehensive to watch this movie, i could not care less about american football or english for that matter, but was impressed by the story and sandra's "comeback" performance. having only seen TBS, an education and precious from this category i cant have a full opinion but i have no idea how precious was even considered for oscars, i thought it was shit, and an education was a pointless story to watch but i imagine is a good read.
i havent seen crazy heart so i cant comment on jeff bridges oscar for his leading role in it, apart from jeff bridges is awesome
christopher waltz best supporting actor for IB - yes, everyone agrees? good, he was amazing in it
due to the fact i hated precious i think the supporting actress oscar should have gone to anna kendrick for up in the air. although i didnt love the movie, she was good in it. and shes hot.
kathryn bigelow best achievement in directing for hurt locker- agreed. first modern war movie that hasnt sucked ("modern" - i.e. not including saving private ryan which is awesome), thoroughly enjoyed the movie
i dont agree with the hurt locker getting best screenplay over the coen brothers a serious man. a serious man was hilarious, confusing, engaging- despite stuhlbarg's character's detachment from reality, and definitely deserved an oscar in this category
district 9 should have won best screenplay based on previously published material. im so glad peter jackson gave blomkamp $30mil to make this movie, it made my summer. the short movie it was based on, alive in joburg, had the idea and depth to be appreciated widely, but it didnt have peter jacksons name on every poster plastered around the cities of earth. i havent read push, the novel which precious was based on, but i cannot express how much i did not like that movie and must assume the book is just as bad.
visual effects to avatar, we all knew it was going to happen when jake chases neytiri through pandora foliage before he's surprisingly accepted into the navi/nabi tribe despite being a sleepwalker or whatever the natives called the avatars. i couldnt help thinking throughout the entire movie that this must be what taking acid is like. it sent shivers down my spine and was topped only by the floating mountains further in to the three hour epic. district 9 effects were good, the last twenty minutes are a guys heaven of a movie with exploding people everywhere, and i was amazed to find out every single alien was cgi, but avatar did have an edge over d9
fantastic mr fox should have got best music, thought it was awesome the way the music made you feel involved with the covert operations carried out by animals
animated movie, pixar surprise surprise. i was pleasantly surprised by up, but nothing tops wall.e for me, that movie is topnotch
i saw a prophet and am in agreement that it wasnt that great so shouldnt have got an oscar. yet to see el secreto de sus ojos so i reserve judgement.
finally- YES the cove got best documentary. ok i didnt see any of the others but im not really a documentary type of guy. i only saw this movie because on my daily commute for about a month there was a promo poster of dolphins and a diver outside the elevator i get at gloucester road, and i thought i like underwater stuff so i went to see it. touching, moving, daring movie that i thoroughly enjoyed
there you have some of my opinions on the oscars
oh and one last one
what the fuck is wrong with ben fucking stiller? he cant act so im not entirely sure why hes in the acting business and did you see the bullshit stunt he pulled? fuckin douche
check out emancipators new album - Safe in the Steep Cliffs
it's a bit samy but still really chilled. revision times coming up so we all need some chill music to listen to

tv shows
i love watching tv shows but whats better is when the show has a good soundtrack to it
remember Teachers from channel 4 from like 5 or so years ago? had an awesome soundtrack including kings of leon, mr scruff, awsome stuff
90210 also has a pretty good soundtrack, although you wouldnt think it right? e4 used delphic's red lights on their latest ad for the show an i like it so have a listen
'Red Lights - Delphic'
Glee has some pretty good amateur-ish singers. when artie sings dancin' with myself it's awsum, an when quinn sings say a little prayer it's pretty good cos she's buff
here's a hilarious slowed down version
